Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Chief of Emergency Medicine to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan. The hospital is part of NYC Health + Hospitals. Metropolitan Hospital accommodates over 313,000 outpatient visits, nearly 70,000 emergency room visits and more than 13,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with New York Medical College to maintain its high healthcare delivery standards.

Responsibilities
- Direct, oversee, manage and evaluate all aspects of clinical services and medical education provided by members of the Department.
- Perform full range of administrative/operational responsibilities to ensure the efficient achievement of departmental goals and effective delivery of medical care.
- Set expectations, monitor, document, and manage the performance of all clinical staff who report to this position.
- Exercise responsibility for the quality and safety of Direct Patient Care Services.
- Make recommendations for the granting of Medical Staff privileges, and the appointment and reappointment of Medical Staff.
- Report to the Medical Director regarding performance of the Contract Services Providers under your direction.
- Design, implement and manage policies, systems and processes within the department.
- Collaborate with the service line administrator and nursing leader to develop and accomplish specific objectives.
- Assume fiduciary responsibilities within the departmental structure set by the Senior Vice President, the Executive Director and the Chief Medical Officer.
Qualifications
A current, valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine in accordance with the laws of the State of New York; a valid DEA registration; status as a provider in good standing in the Medicare and Medicaid programs; board certification in the appropriate board specialty (may be waived by the President of HHC); and good standing with the health care facility’s Medical Staff. Demonstrated leadership and managerial abilities are essential including personnel, finance, quality and clinical resource management; maturity in clinical practice in area of specialty is preferred.
