Evolve Treatment Centers is hiring for a Nurse based out of our Walnut Creek and Lafayette locations. Our team provides cutting edge residential and outpatient treatment to adolescents struggling with addiction and mental illness. We are looking for candidates that can stay calm during stressful situations, those that take initiative and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
Essential Functions:
- Direct patient care and assessment; including the reporting of observed changes in mental status and/or physical condition, response to emergencies, and safety risks
- Completes documentation in an efficient and timely manner, including nursing assessments, transcription of M.D.s' phone orders
- Knowledge of medication administration records, vital sign monitoring
- Attendance and participation in terms of treatment planning and professional staff meetings
- Call in medications to pharmacy and pick up
- Provides in service training to technical staff on medications, documentation, and monitoring of vital signs
- Provides ongoing patient education on all aspects of medications and other health issues including hygiene
- Monitors supplies and reports needs to Facility Manager
- Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and educational support to patients and families
- Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; calling for assistance from health care support personnel
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures
- Maintains continuity among nurses by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs to weekend nurse
Knowledge of:
- Psychiatric medications and their side effects
- Basic first aid and life-saving skills
Ability to:
- Speak with clients and parents in a compassionate and patient manner
- Maintain professional boundaries with clients and staff
- Assess emergency situations and delegate responsibilities to staff
- Work with a multi-disciplinary team
- Exercise independent judgment and leadership, analyze situations accurately and take effective action
- Make decisions and handle difficult situations with tact and professionalism
Requirements:
- Valid California Nursing License. May be an LVN, LPT
- Current CPR/ BLS card
- Minimum of one year experience as a working nurse. Psych or chemical dependence background preferred
- Good communication skills and basic computer literacy
COVID-19 considerations:
Masks are required at all times and will be provided. Upon coming to work, all employees get their temperatures checked. We also have plenty of PPE (e.g., gloves) and hand sanitizer readily available. We have increased housekeeping and sanitization.
