This Crisis Therapist position is housed in the Craig Yabuki Mental Health Walk-In Clinic, located on the Children’s Wisconsin Milwaukee campus. This clinic is the first of its kind in Wisconsin, and one of a few in the country. The after-hours clinic serves children and families with urgent mental health care needs. They see patients typically between the ages of 5-18 with a wide variety of urgent mental and behavioral health needs.
Patient facing hours are currently 1pm - 7:30pm, with full-time staff available 12:30pm – 9pm, and casual staff available at least 5pm – 9pm (with earlier availability also desired) and is closed major holidays.
Our Crisis Therapists serve in a multidisciplinary team to care for children and families with urgent mental health needs.
NO treatment plans or discharge planning. NO productivity demands.
In a nutshell, you come into the clinic, see families, document, and you are done!
Shifts:
Patient facing hours are 1pm - 7:30pm, with full-time staff available 12:30pm – 9pm, and casual staff available at least 5pm – 9pm (with earlier availability also desired)
Weekends are not required
Looking for someone comfortable working with high acuity and crisis type patients, has a positive attitude, and able to make complex decisions while building collaborative relationships.
Position Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Social Work, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage & Family Counseling or related field from an accredited program, plus 3000 hours post-Master's experience, or PhD or PsyD from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program.
- Must have and maintain current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Professional Counselor (LPC) or Psychologist from the State of Wisconsin and satisfy continuing education requirements.
- Education and training in psychodiagnostic and therapeutic techniques in developmental psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, behavior modification and psychopathology.
- At least two (2) years behavioral health treatment experience with children and adolescents is required.
- At least two (2) years post-licensure is required.
- Licensed providers with 2 years of supervised experience working with children and families while obtaining 3,000 hours may be considered in lieu of 2 years-post licensure requirement.
- Clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and families; and experience in a pediatric primary care, or other pediatric medical setting is strongly preferred.
- Understands the medical population-developmental stages and chronic health conditions. Has clinical knowledge of primary care or specialty care pediatrics.
- Experience working with children and families, diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and trauma history preferred.
- Requires a comprehensive understanding of all psychological procedures normally acquired during two years of experience in evaluating and treating children, adolescents and families.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working with Electronic Health Record preferred.
