To become a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, either an Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required. It is also required to become licensed.
Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurses provide the full range of psychiatric-mental health care to patients and can prescribe medications for patients who have psychiatric disorders, medical organic brain disorders or substance abuse problems, and administer psychotherapy.
