University Hospitals Bristol and Weston (UHBW) NHS Foundation Trust are looking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Consultant Clinical Oncologist with specialist skills in the management of Upper Gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, including oesophago gastric and hepato biliary cancers, and Cancer of Unknown Primary (CUP).
Main duties of the job
This is a new substantive post based at the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). The post holder will be based at the Bristol site and will join established teams of consultants for the delivery of care. The postholder will deliver all aspects of clinical care for patients in the services they are supporting including outpatient clinics, ward rounds, radiotherapy planning, attendance at relevant MDTs and have an on call commitment. This will include responsibility for being an ARSAC license holder. While the advertised post is for 10 PAs, candidates who are looking for a reduced number of sessions are encouraged to apply. We also welcome enquiries from individuals who may have interests in other tumour sites.

Person specification
Qualifications & Training
- Full and specialist registration in either AIM or GIM with the General Medical Council (GMC) or
- Eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview
- MRCP or equivalent
- FRCR or equivalent.
- Higher academic qualification e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent
Experience
- Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in Oncology
- Ability to offer expert clinical opinion across a wide range of oncological situations both elective and emergency.
- Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision and be able to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Specialist experience in Upper GI cancer and CUP
- Evidence of a special interest and expertise that complements those of other consultants in the department and is consistent with the Trust’s service strategy

- Up to date knowledge and experience of relevant specialty
