We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with both small animal and equine medicine, will be adept at handling anesthesia, sedation, and general patient handling. This role is crucial to ensuring the smooth operation of our imaging services and providing top-notch care to our patients.
Duties:
- Administer and monitor anesthesia and sedation for various imaging procedures.
- Assist in the preparation and positioning of patients for imaging studies, including Ultrasound, CT, and Nuclear Scintigraphy.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary imaging techniques and patient handling.
- Assist with operating imaging equipment as needed
- Handle and restrain animals, including equines, safely and compassionately.
- Collaborate with veterinarians and other team members to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of procedures.
- Operate and maintain imaging equipment, ensuring it is used safely and effectively.
- Provide post-procedure care and monitoring of patients.
- Educate pet owners on post-procedure care and any follow-up requirements.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, and unpleasant odors.
- Ability to always communicate professionally and effectively and maintain professionalism in emotionally charged challenging situations.
- Ability to provide high quality customer service.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
- Ability to work effectively with computers and electronics.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift patients with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, walk, bend, twist, reach, push and squat most of the workday.
Education & Experience:
Credentialed as a North Carolina Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) preferred or experienced Veterinary Assistant.
