Deliver powerful results
To achieve our vision, we are searching for a talented Manager of Science & Z Lab with a Bachelor’s degree, and at least 2 years of science teaching experience, instructional management, and/or curriculum development experience.
At Zeta, our Science program engages all learners in the wonder and joy of the process of science. We ensure students and teachers have an understanding of how scientists collect and organize ideas about the natural world through observation and experimentation. Our educators teach so that students engage in hands-on, inquiry-based experiences. Our science program prepares students to be well-informed world citizens, leaders, innovators, and disruptors, ready to engage with next-generation problems.
Additionally, Z Lab experience fosters self-directed learning, problem-solving skills, creativity and innovation, and leadership. The core of our program is the combination of displaying learned knowledge with the development of new knowledge and skills. Units are designed so that students learn new skills and knowledge through structured inquiry investigations before engaging in open inquiry experiences that allow for more student choice and exploration.
Responsibilities:
- Create and revise science and Z Lab curriculum materials, aligned with the New York State Science Learning Standards and our Zeta Learning Competencies, including unit plans, lesson plans, and assessments
- Observe instruction across schools and develop teachers and leaders in service of ensuring programming is implemented at a high level to lead to exceptional academic outcomes
- Study data and collaborate with other Academics Team members to identify gaps and take action to ensure leaders and teachers are using data to increase learning outcomes
- Assist with network-wide initiatives and provide instructional support as needed
- Develop authentic and meaningful relationships with teachers and leaders to support growth in service of student learning
- Collaborate with colleagues and participate in professional development opportunities to benefit from feedback that will help you grow as a leader
- Wear multiple hats as a part of a lean startup-up team, supporting the work of others on the team and taking on new projects and tasks as needed
