JOB SUMMARY
Assists in the management of the Department of Pharmacy and supervision of the department staff in providing pharmaceutical services in accordance with the mission and vision of West Suburban Medical Center. Performs duties of a registered pharmacist.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Level of knowledge acquired through the completion of a master’s degree in Pharmacy or Pharm. D.
- Completion of a hospital pharmacy residency or two (2) to three (3) years’ experience as a registered pharmacist in a hospital setting.
- Current license by the State of Illinois as a Registered Pharmacist.
- The ability to organize effectively.
- The interpersonal and communication skills necessary to work effectively with patients, physicians, and other hospital personnel.
- The demonstrated clinical knowledge of drugs and disease.
JOB DUTIES
- Conforms to the established Standards of Behavior.
- Assists Director in providing financial management of department assisting in the development and the management of operating budgets.
- Assists in development of short-term and long-term goals.
- Oversees some departmental personnel functions.
- Assures adequate staffing available with posted schedules.
- Reviews and approves timecards.
- Participates in hiring, discipline and termination of pharmacists and technicians.
- Reassigns staff and duties as needed.
- Assists in integrating pharmaceutical services into the needs of the patients, and nursing and medical staff.
- Assists in developing orientation and training programs for new staff.
- Maintains a core clinical practice area.
- Ensures operations comply with regulatory requirements.
- Participates in ensuring that all pharmaceuticals are appropriately stored and distributed within the institution.
- Assists in reviewing and implementing Policies and Procedures to meet regulatory standards and standards of good practice.
- Other duties as assigned.
