Requirements
Age 14 years or older
Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
Able to walk and stand for long periods of time
Pay starts at $10/hour. Pay raises and promotions available with time and experience.
Boarding and lessons for employees are discounted.
We encourage perpetual learning among all members of our staff. Therefore, we encourage our staff members to take lessons (employee discounts apply), attend clinics, and pursue other learning opportunities about working on farms and with horses or other animals. We are also designing a curriculum system for employees to gain useful knowledge and skills that they can carry throughout their lives and future careers while also providing a way to earn pay raises and promotions while they are with us.
Responsibilities
This is a very physical job so it is imperative that you be physically able to keep up with those demands.
Morning shifts are from 7 am - 9 am.
Evening shifts are from 4:30 pm - 6:30/7:00 pm (approx).
There are additional shifts available for special projects as they arise.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Feeding horses
- Leading horses to/from barns and pastures
- Handling hay and water
- Mucking stalls
- General cleaning and upkeep of barn, arenas, and other areas of the facility
- Caring for other animals on the property (i.e., pigs, chickens, and ducks)
- Cleaning water troughs, buckets, and feed pans
- Putting on and removing horse blankets/sheets/fly masks as needed
- Potentially assist in treating minor medical issues with horses on occasion
- Assist with unloading hay shipments as needed
- Working alongside others in a team environment
- Maintaining open and professional communication with co-workers and superiors
