The Role
This is a summer internship opportunity in Norwood, MA from June 2, 2025 – August 15, 2025. Applicants must be available for the entire duration of the internship. Start date will be June 2, 2025.
The Technical Development organization at Moderna is looking for top talent in science and engineering to deliver on its mission to support sample analysis for clinical studies. Summer Interns will have an opportunity to be part of high-performing project teams supporting regulated clinical GcLP bioanalysis via LC-MS/MS. You will apply your educational background and learn new technical skills in the analysis of lipids and other small molecules in patient samples. You will develop a deep understanding of bioanalytical strategies to develop and analyze small molecules to help further our understanding of mRNA delivery LNPs.
Here’s What You’ll Do
- Work with a team of highly skilled experts to come up to speed quickly on technology and techniques.
- Use laboratory, technical and communication skills to generate experimental results, perform data analysis, and document in formal reports including conclusions and recommended next steps.
- Run bioanalytical LC/MS methods for quantitation of various types of molecules, particularly lipids.
- Conduct bioanalytical assays following established protocols and SOPs, in compliance with GLP/GCP guidelines.
- Work closely with colleagues in Clinical Development as well as cross-functional groups.
- Stay abreast of literature, government guidelines, internal guidance on clinical trial conduct including Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Clinical Practice (GCP), internal SOPs and regulations and White Papers, as appropriate, for pre-clinical and clinical bioanalysis to ensure practices are consistent with regulatory expectations.
- Prepare technical reports and present finding in cross-functional meetings.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)
- Current student enrolled in a Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral program in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomolecular Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Biostatistics, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Strong fundamental scientific and engineering skills for the evaluation of experimental data.
- Laboratory skills applicable to analytical methods (extraction, HPLC, LC-MS/MS).

- GPA of 3.5 on a 4 scale or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as the ability to contribute to high performing teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
