- Med/Surg Orthopedics - 16 bed unit specializing in the care of orthopedic patients who have undergone surgical interventions as well as general medical and surgical patients.
- Med/Surg Oncology - 18 bed unit specializing in the care of medical and oncology patients.
- Med/Surg Cardiac Neuro - 18 bed unit specializing in the care of cardiac and neurological patients.
- Med/Surg General - 18 bed unit specializing in the care of general medical and surgical patients.
- Observation Unit - 22 bed unit providing ongoing short-term treatment and assessment for patients.
- Progressive Care Unit - 16 bed unit specializing in the care of cardiothoracic and step-down care patients.
- Grafton inpatient float pool - our float pool RNs support many units in the hospital, including the 4 med/surg units and other specialized areas.
Major Responsibilities:
- Uses the nursing process to assess the needs of the patient and implement individualized interventions.
- Recognizes significant changes in the patient’s condition and provides ongoing assessment.
- Implements strategies to reduce patient risk and increase safety.
- Coordinates the discharge plan utilizing an interdisciplinary approach.
- Evaluates patient, team, and unit outcomes and takes appropriate actions.
- Demonstrates effective communication and promotes collaboration among healthcare team members.
- Promotes a culture of safety and reports patient safety events.
- Participates in quality/process improvement initiatives.
- Engages in professional development and completes required competencies.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Education Required:
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Ability to provide holistic patient care and respond to situational changes.
- Proficient computer skills and excellent communication abilities.
- Ability to develop rapport and maintain professional relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to make critical, independent decisions.
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrates time management skills and the ability to multi-task.
- Certification Addendum: Team members will maintain annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must be able to perform various physical activities throughout the workday.
- Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch.
- May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste; protective clothing is required.
