The Florida Department of Health (DOH) is responsible for the health and safety of all citizens and visitors to the state. As a public health agency, the Florida Department of Health must monitor the health status of Floridians, diagnose and investigate health problems, and mobilize local communities to address health-related issues.
OPS Senior Community Health Nurse:
The OPS Senior Community Health Nurse operates within the immediate guidance of the overseeing nursing supervisor in the Refugee Clinic. Working independently and adhering to all established state and local protocols written/approved by the Florida Department of Health. The incumbent must possess a valid Registered Nurse license issued by the State of Florida or multi-state license from another Compact State.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
- Advocates for and sustains the well-being of individuals, families, and the community using suitable preventative and rehabilitative actions.
- Provides comprehensive nursing in FDOH-Hillsborough Refugee Health and in community settings as warranted.
- Interviews, counsels, demonstrates, and teaches health principles.
- Maintains comprehensive quality records, collects, and reports relevant data to advanced practice registered nurses and physicians.
- Participates in case management meetings; formulates and evaluates care plans.
- Assists with health fairs, community organizations, and specific public health events as requested.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Knowledge of planning principles and techniques.
- Ability to use problem-solving techniques.
- Knowledge of clinical operations and activities.
- Ability to effectively resolve conflict.
- Skill vaccinating adults and children.
- Applies nursing principles and techniques in the care, treatment, and assessment of clients.
- Assumes responsibility for initiating care, delivering treatment to patients, and accurately documenting patient care in the EHR in timely manner.
- Able to maintain/manage case records with time constraints.
- Able to proactively initiate care for clients in need of health services.
Qualifications:
- Active Florida Registered Nurse license or a multistate license from another Compact State.
