The Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy (MCEA) is a growing nonprofit organization in Minnesota with offices in Saint Paul and Duluth dedicated to protecting Minnesota's environment and natural resources through legal action, policy advocacy, and community engagement.
For 50 years, MCEA has been a leading voice for environmental protection in Minnesota, working alongside community leaders, scientists, policy makers and everyday citizens to preserve the state's natural beauty, promote sustainable development, and ensure that all communities have access to clean water and clean air regardless of race, color, ethnicity, income, or zip code.

POSITION SUMMARY
MCEA seeks a half-time summer intern who will, with support from MCEA staff, board, and volunteers, create, design, and assemble a “digital scrapbook” that archives MCEA’s 50-year history. This project will gather, in one organized and accessible place, all of the documents, pictures, videos and other media that tell the full story of MCEA’s founding and its first 50 years of advocacy.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Retrieve through research, outreach, and other means, the wealth of information (internal records, publications, media accounts, pictures, videos, etc.) available about MCEA and its work since MCEA’s founding 50 years ago.
- Create documentation of MCEA's history and its work through, for example, recorded and/or videoed interviews and/or correspondence with MCEA’s founders, former staff, board members, clients, legislators or others who may contribute to an understanding of MCEA’s history and its work over the last 50 years.
- Assemble all of the archival materials retrieved and/or created into an organized and accessible (searchable) digital library – a “digital scrapbook” – that can serve as an enduring resource for anyone interested in the organization’s origins and its work during the first 50 years.
- Provide content (e.g., blog posts, newsletter articles, social media posts, videos, etc.) that MCEA can use to promote the celebration of its history during this 50th anniversary year.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with creative software to create artifacts, presentations, visual information, and historical information
- Digital files and/or data management
- Experience organizing large amounts of data during research and for future use
- Interest in historical research and documentation, library science, journalism, communications or environmental science
- Fluency with computers and digital information management
- Creativity and a can-do spirit
- Good organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and self motivated
