RN Acute-Pediatric Emergency Department-Methodist
Shift: 11a-11p and Every 4th Weekend with Rotating Holiday
Eligible for $10,000 Sign-On Bonus
As a member of the interdisciplinary team, contributes professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients and their families. Maintains a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code for Nurses, Philosophy of Nursing at UnityPoint Health within the structure of the Professional Nurse Practice Model and in collaboration with other caregivers. Blank Pediatric Emergency Department provides care for children from birth through 17 years of age. A Family-Centered Care approach is implemented in the delivery of patient care. The Pediatric Emergency Department is a newly constructed department with state-of-the-art equipment. It has 12 regular treatment rooms, plus 6 express care examination rooms. Pediatric Emergency Department is a designated Pediatric Level II Trauma Center.

Responsibilities
- Provides and coordinates nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process.
- Completes documentation to assure an accurate record of patient's care.
- Utilizes critical thinking in making independent judgments, and maintains responsibility for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients.
- Collaborates with physicians and other professionals in planning and implementing care within hospital policy and legal limitations.
- Assesses needs of patients and families, provides appropriate teaching to facilitate discharge planning, and makes the necessary referrals to community agencies to provide continuity of care.
- Demonstrates professional development by keeping abreast of current nursing practice and healthcare trends.
Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Qualifications: Current active Iowa License to practice as a RN. Minimum of six months RN experience. Previous Peds ED experience preferred with TNCC/ENPC/PALS combo.
Department of Labor Level III (Medium) Work.
Note: All newly licensed RNs with less than six months of RN experience who are interested in this department or any other Acute RN role within UnityPoint Health - Des Moines, are encouraged and required to participate in the RN Residency program. Newly licensed nurses must apply for the Registered Nurse Residency position.
