Title: Senior Project Accountant
Location: New Orleans, LA
Summary:
The Senior Project Accountant will focus on capturing actual costs and schedule data, monitoring, and analyzing the project cost and schedules performance, and help create a reporting tool to report all project controls KPIs to achieve best-in-class results in project predictability. The Project Accounting Specialist will report to the Vice President of Finance and work with Program Managers for accurate project reporting. The role requires the ability to use advanced and up to date integrated accounting & scheduling software systems for shipping (marine) projects.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the single point of contact for cost updating, forecasting and reporting
- Establish and maintain a cost report for the projects awarded to the company
- Set and update cost reports against the baseline (using the approved estimate, per the agreed contract)
- Establish cost & revenue reports in accordance cost and revenue recognition procedures
- Prepare preliminary monthly cash flow cost forecast for Controller’s review and approval
- Assist Controller in project cost review with Program Managers
- Be a resource and assist Project Managers in maintaining the life cycle of the project from the notice of award to the final closeout
- Work with schedulers, if necessary, for regular updating
- Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project cost information to the project team
- Prepare reports and presentations associated with the above requirements
- Assist in day-to-day accounting activities regarding the projects and sometimes financial accounting activities.
- Set-up Work Packages in MAS/Sage
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting
- Construction Management Experience
- Experience in government report (DFAR, FAR, DCCA) is a plus
- 3-5 years’ experience in Project Accounting
- Primavera P6 experience and scheduling in an engineering and construction environment is a plus
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Must be willing to attend regular status meetings
- Must be able to present cost status in a group environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; including Word, Excel, and Outlook
