Assistant Director, Division of Finance
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah
The Division of Finance is seeking a CPA with governmental accounting experience to help direct and manage the division. If you have a passion for governmental administration, accounting, and leadership, this could be the position you've been waiting for!
The Assistant Director of the Division of Finance has a close working relationship with, and works under the guidance of, the Division Director. As the Assistant Director of the Division of Finance, you will:
- Help direct the operations of the Division.
- Lead efforts to implement, maintain, and improve accounting and related financial systems, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of state agencies and facilitate efficient reporting and compliance.
- Manage and support staff in addressing special user needs, system enhancements, and troubleshooting financial system-related issues.
- Oversee the Division's technology systems and security protocols, ensuring the integrity and security of financial data.
- Develop and/or monitor special information or project requests from the Legislature, Governor, Budget Office, or the Department of Government Operations.
- Provide internal direction to management and subordinate staff in matters regarding human resource management, tracking and responding to accounting-related legislative issues, and general office management issues.
- Partner with the Division Director and other senior management to develop an external communication strategy for the Division.
- Coordinate and collaborate with the Division Director and senior management in other areas to benefit the division.
- Develop and/or modify statewide accounting-related rules, policies, or standards.
- Review fiscal operations to ensure integrity, accuracy, and control of data.
- Manage procurement and contracting processes for the division.
- Manage the development and reporting of key performance measures for the division.
- Participate in determining and updating strategic plans and priorities.
The Best Qualified Candidate
The best qualified candidate for this position will have:
- A minimum of 5 years of governmental accounting and budgeting experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of project management experience.
Additional points will be awarded to applicants with:
- A minimum of 3 years of financial audit experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience extracting, analyzing, and reporting accounting data.
A proficiency with:
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- The state's accounting system, FINET.
- The state's financial data warehouse.
- The state's procurement processes and requirements.
