About the Position: Satisfactorily perform employer audits for compliance with MOES laws, rules, and regulations. Communicate professionally both verbally and in writing with employers or their representatives. Gather information and documentation to determine compliance with established laws, rules, and regulations and determine the necessary adjustments to employer tax and wage reports reflecting the audit findings. Examine and understand documentation including general ledgers, payroll ledgers, tax returns, bank statements, and other documentation to determine reporting compliance with established laws, rules, and regulations. Analyze documentation provided by employers to determine the correct classification of individuals as either employees or independent contractors. Effectively convey to employers or their representatives any non-compliance adjustments deemed necessary as a result of the audit. Perform various other auditing functions as directed by the audit supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned by the Office of Reemployment Assistance management team. Travel with occasional overnight stays required. Applicants must have a valid Mississippi driver's license. Applicants must pass an extensive background check. What you'll need to be Successful: Preferred candidate will demonstrate a strong knowledge of Federal and State payroll reporting requirements as well as Unemployment Insurance (UI) laws and regulations. Possess advanced computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Display the ability to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications: Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 1-3 years of experience. Agency preferred qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or related field. Three (3) years of experience in Payroll, Auditing or Accounting.
Minimum Qualifications: Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 1-3 years of experience.
