Overview
The Accounting Manager is responsible for playing a key role in the month-end close process. It will also entail preparing and reviewing account reconciliations, preparing balance sheet analytics, internal control documentation narratives and deliverables to the auditors.
Important areas of focus will be: Intangible Assets, Goodwill, Leases, Fixed Asset, Prepaid Expenses. Need to have a solid understanding of the accounting principles for those areas. The role entails supervising a staff of 1-2 people.
This position will work out of our midtown Manhattan, NY office with the flexibility of a hybrid schedule. Preference given to candidates living in NY, NJ, CT and PA.

Responsibilities
- Involvement in preparation of company’s 10-K/10-Q ensuring compliance with SEC requirements
- Preparation of month-end close account reconciliations mainly related to Debt, Intangible assets, Goodwill, Fixed assets and Prepaid expenses
- Preparation of quarterly fluctuation analysis
- Review lease contracts (including amendments) for compliance with ASC 842
- Preparation and review of deliverables to external auditors
- Enhance existing accounting-related processes
- Assist with the implementation, documentation and testing of internal financial controls.
- Provide guidance and training to accounting staff (1-2 accounting staff)
- Review accounting reconciliation and journal entries prepared by accounting staff
- Other duties as required and assigned
Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Science degree in accounting (or equivalent)
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail; required
- CPA certification; strongly preferred
- Strong SEC reporting skills, strongly preferred
- Experience with Sarbanes Oxley compliance; strongly preferred
- Big 4 accounting firm experience; strongly preferred
- The ability to grow into an effective team leader of large teams with divergent responsibility and accountability
- Strong financial acumen with demonstrated analytical abilities and knowledge of corporate finance.
- Knowledge of Netsuite a plus
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in order to deal effectively with a variety of interpersonal relationships and situations
- The ability to cultivate strong working relationships with personnel from various areas of responsibility within the organization and interact with employees (at all levels of the company) in a professional manner
