We are looking for an experienced and meticulous Corporate Accounting Manager to join our Finance team. Reporting to the VP Controller, the Corporate Accounting Manager is responsible for accounting compliance of the general ledger, taxation matters, and financial reporting. You will support and assist with the implementation, maintenance and review of internal controls, policies and procedures, and new accounting standard implementation and other accounting related research. This position is based out of our St Louis Park, MN headquarters, with opportunities for flexible work arrangements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor and ensure timely identification and compliance with evolving accounting guidance, provide US GAAP interpretation, and prepare technical memorandums that document issues in a clear, logical and comprehensive manner
- Create, implement, and maintain comprehensive accounting policy documents to improve clarity and consistency
- Support month-end and year-end closing, including review of reconciliations of balance sheet account to ensure accounting procedures are in compliance with applicable regulations
- Review of journal entries, supporting files and other GL accounting activity as part of month-end close process
- Prepare the monthly, quarterly, and annual reports of the Bank and affiliates, including SEC required filings
- Assist in preparation of various regulatory reports (Call Report, FR Y-9C, FR Y-9LP, FRY-6, etc.)
- Review and analyze the Bank’s taxation and other complex accounting matters
- Complete hedging documentation and assessments of hedge effectiveness related to the derivative portfolio
- Assist with the accounting and reporting related to the Company’s equity compensation plan
- Participate in the preparation of the ACL model and ensure proper documentation is maintained
- Implement and maintain procedures to comply with internal control requirements
- Coordinate with auditors and examiners as needed in connection with year-end audits, quarterly reviews, examinations and other engagements
- Perform research of complex technical accounting matters and provide appropriate interpretation of the relevant guidance
- Participate and lead accounting standard implementation projects
- Communicate and explain accounting issues and evolving accounting guidance including providing training to the applicable areas
- Perform continuous assessment of the use of automated processes and procedures and re-engineer to reduce the timing of financial report preparation
- Support month end and year end closing
- Participate in other job duties and projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required, CPA preferred.
- 7+ years of experience with Financial Services/Banking Industry experience preferred
- Management or leadership experience
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting experience
- Ability to research and propose company positions on complex accounting issues
- Public accounting experience, preferred
- Experience in a publicly traded company highly preferred
