Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Corrosion Analyst to join our team at SURFMEPP in Portsmouth, VA.
Summary:
The Surface Maintenance Engineering, Planning, Program (SURFMEPP) maintains, monitors, and refines Class-wide and Individual-Ship Maintenance Plans for all non-nuclear surface ships to ensure material readiness for the projected service life, develop life-cycle strategies to address system upgrades, and fully implement the Class Maintenance Plan into each surface ship's maintenance schedule and availability planning process. SURFMEPP is headquartered at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA.
Responsibilities:
- Engineers and manages surface ship class Corrosion Plans during the advanced planning and planning process.
- Tracks corrosion Mandatory Technical Requirements (MTRs) during CNO Availability execution.
- Interacts with and provides Corrosion SME to maintenance stakeholders.
- Applies practical engineering and analytical judgment while tracking corrosion work reported by assessment activities to support the maintenance planning process.
- Develops and presents findings, reports or recommendations to analysts, employees, managers inside or outside of the organization, agency heads or other high-ranking officials using Microsoft products used by SURFMEPP.
- Has an understanding of the government maintenance team and private shipyard organizations, as they relate to condition assessment and depot level maintenance execution.
- Obtains coating and structural knowledge necessary to participate in related Communities of Practice and Knowledge Sharing Networks, as well as review and QA condition data as reported during assessment events.
- Harvests and analyzes data from various Navy ship maintenance databases.
- Mentors less experienced employees.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Four (4) years Naval Surface or Corrosion experience.
- Two (2) of the four years’ experience in U.S. Navy surface ship operations or maintenance planning and execution including:
- Experience drafting briefs and presentations related to maintenance or modernization of US Navy ships.
- Experience governing documents related to Navy Correspondence, terminology and maintenance fundamentals related to the husbanding of ships throughout a maintenance cycle.
- Experience with Navy protocol and procedures as it relates to interacting with Civilian personnel or Naval Officers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (SharePoint, Power Point, Excel, Word, etc.).
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to self-start and work independently on initiated efforts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Naval Surface or Corrosion experience.
- Experience planning, execution or management of US Navy Ship maintenance, onboard US Navy Ships, at a Regional Maintenance Center or US Navy Planning Activity.
- Conducting work specification or technical review in planning and execution of depot level maintenance.
- Experience with Navy Maintenance databases, especially: Corrosion Control Information Management System (CCIMS); Maintenance Figure of Merit (MFOM) applications Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) and Validate, Screen and Broker (VSB).
- Hold a NACE Shipboard Corrosion Assessment Training Technician Certification (S-CAT) certification.
Clearance Requirements:
Must be a US Citizen and have a current/active Secret Security Clearance.
Physical Requirements:
The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time, carry up to 30 lbs. of typical office equipment such as files and folders, and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery.
