Overview
The Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager will be responsible for playing a key role in technical accounting interpretations and adoptions, preparation of external filings, direct contact with external auditors and supporting the close process as needed.
This position will work out of our midtown Manhattan, NY office with the flexibility of a hybrid schedule.
Preference given to candidates in NY, NJ, CT and PA.
Responsibilities
Research technical accounting issues and memorialize conclusions in comprehensive memos.
- Research and document technical accounting issues (including, but not limited to, impairments (i.e. leases, goodwill and debt), consolidation accounting and revenue recognition).
- Maintain and update company’s accounting policies.
Serve as a key part of the company’s quarterly/annual financial statement preparation.
- Assist in preparation of 10-K/10-Q, ensuring compliance with new accounting guidance.
- Assist in implementation of new accounting standards.
- Review lease contracts (including lease amendments) for ASC842 lease compliance.
- Review/assist with the preparation of the company’s statement of cash flows and statement of equity.
- Support internal controls across the Company.
- Prepare fluctuation analyses required by the CFO, the Business and external auditors.
- Draft quarterly memos on impairment considerations, segment accounting and related party transactions.
Perform ad-hoc analyses, as requested by senior executives (including the Chief Financial Officer).
Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting (or equivalent).
- A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting.
- CPA certification; required.
- Experience with Sarbanes Oxley compliance; required.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail; required.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge in U.S. GAAP.
- Big 4 accounting firm experience; strongly preferred.
- Strong financial acumen with demonstrated analytical abilities and knowledge of corporate finance.
- Experience working on acquisitions and due diligence a plus.
- Knowledge of Netsuite a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in order to deal effectively with a variety of interpersonal relationships and situations.
- The ability to cultivate strong working relationships with personnel from various areas of responsibility within the organization and interact with employees (at all levels of the company) in a professional manner.
