Description
Being a Senior Staff Accountant at HAWC you will perform complex accounting work involving the recording, analysis, and reporting of financial data in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles as well as federal and state guidelines for general accounting. Additional accounting functions include assisting in month and year-end closures, year-audits, grant related audits, and other audits. The successful candidate will have strong analytical, communication, organizational, and time management skills.

- Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. or 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Our Total Compensation Package:- Starting Pay Rate: $76,000 yearly
- Pay schedule semi-monthly

QualificationsThe Requirements We are Seeking:- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- A minimum of three years of experience as an accountant.
- Advanced in Microsoft Office specifically Excel and Outlook. Experience in the use of automated accounting systems; Abila (Sage) MIP is strongly preferred.
- You have a valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record; reliable transportation; ability to travel to off-site locations utilizing personal transportation.
What you Deliver in this role:- Assist in monthly and annual reconciliation of agency accounts while ensuring all activity is in full compliance with GAAP, agency, funder, state, and federal accounting standards and requirements.
- Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
- Reconcile payments utilizing internal tools and systems ensuring accurate documentation, analysis, and preparing reports as requested to support leadership.
- Maintain the general ledger; ensure the daily posting of transactions.
- Prepare and maintain the investment reporting.
- Reconcile the investment account, prepare journal entries, and prepare leadership reports.
- Record payroll transactions and partner with the Payroll Administrator in the reconciliation of personal expenses.
- Assist with the annual financial audit and monitoring visits as assigned.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to research financial transactions, conduct analysis, and create reports to support decision-making and to support the agency's strategic plan.
- Maintain employee and proprietary confidentiality of information.
- Assist in creating and facilitating training for employees in general accounting or other program positions as appropriate.
- Prepare complex accounting reconciliation and analysis to determine the accuracy of financial data, initiate needed adjustments and corrections and provide needed explanations of transactions.
- Research complex issues and recommend process and operational improvements as needed.
- Serve as a back-up for the Staff Accountant for leaves and vacation.
- Create a desk manual of workflows and processes that are position specific.
- Projects and other duties/projects may be assigned.
