Investment Accounting Management - Real Estate
The Investment Accounting Management job manages the investment accounting policies and procedures of the organization and ensures they are correctly applied to financial transactions. This role partners directly with asset management, portfolio management, and acquisition/disposition teams, and also supervises professional level employees who are responsible for preparing month-end closing reports and subsidiary quarterly financial analytics.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Leads the month- and quarter-end close reviews, including completion of oversight testing procedures and documentation, analysis of financial results, and ensuring appropriate accounting and reporting in accordance with US GAAP and SEC reporting guidance.
- Ensure all critical financial information is filed in accordance with SEC guidelines and that all corporate entities remain in compliance with SEC rules for public companies. This includes Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, monthly NAV, and other reporting as required.
- Works closely with internal auditors, public accountants, federal tax examiners, and other financial professionals ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization.
- Develop, update and implement all financial reporting, treasury and segment related processes and procedures. Maintain a sound internal control environment, create efficiencies and strengthen operating controls. Comply with and maintain all SOX procedures and controls.
- Oversee cash and liquidity management, including the day-to-day cash management and short and long-term liquidity forecasting and planning.
- Prepare executive level financial reporting for presentation to the quarterly Disclosure Committee, Audit Committee, and other executive leadership meetings.
- Research, interpret and apply accounting guidance and coordinate with the Accounting Policy team to ensure appropriate application of accounting principles. Keep abreast of all new accounting and reporting regulations and participate in various industry working groups to ensure compliance.
- Network with senior personnel and internal/external stakeholders to expand knowledge, gain insight, and influence outcomes.
- Manage performance of team through regular, timely feedback as well as the formal performance review process to ensure delivery of exceptional products and engagement, motivation, and development of the Investment Accounting team.
- Explain investment accounting policies, procedures and control processes to ensure that policies are clear and understood by all team members.
- Lead, manage, and/or oversee strategic initiatives and other reporting needs to include system upgrades, process improvements, implementation of new products, and asset management initiatives.

REQUIRED:
- 5+ years financial or Investment Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting and/or Audit experience required.
PREFERRED:
- 7+ years financial or Investment Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting and/or Audit experience preferred.
- University Degree in Accounting.
- CPA Certification.
- Real Estate Accounting or Investment Accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP.
- Experience with MS Office, Excel, Yardi, Adobe, and Workiva.
- Experience working in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Excellent technical research skills.
- Experience interacting with external auditors.
Anticipated Posting End Date: 2024-11-30
Base Pay Range: $96,800/yr. - $154,400/yr.
Actual base salary may vary based upon relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
