Focus:
- Lead and oversee all accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, and accounts payable/receivable, to ensure accuracy, compliance, and transparency.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures in accordance with nonprofit accounting principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Manage and supervise accounting staff, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to ensure high performance and productivity.
- Coordinate and manage audits, ensuring timely completion and compliance with regulatory requirements and reporting standards.
- Oversee grants management activities, including tracking, reporting, and compliance with grant guidelines and funding requirements.
- Collaborate with executive leadership and program managers to develop and monitor budgets, financial forecasts, and grant proposals to support organizational objectives.
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation, ensuring confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
- Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to inform decision-making and optimize resource allocation.
- Serve as a liaison with external auditors, regulatory agencies, and funding partners to address financial inquiries and ensure adherence to reporting requirements.
Skill Set:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role within a nonprofit organization.
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Proven experience in managing audits and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Extensive experience in grants management, including tracking, reporting, and compliance.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal abilities, with a proven track record of effectively managing teams and building collaborative relationships.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information effectively to diverse stakeholders, both internally and externally.
