Rough Patch Farm is currently accepting applications for interns. This is a small, sustainable farm producing primarily cut flowers and oil olives. We are currently in our fourth season, expanding our production and reach–come grow with us.
Upcoming projects include the cool season flower crops (Ranunculus, iris, spirea, sweetpeas, nigella, and more), Gerber daisy production, olive pruning, planting perennial flower and foliage crops, and building farm infrastructure including greenhouse space and animal shelter. We harvest olives in fall. Marketing is another major job, and farm equipment maintenance and repair is always ongoing. Individuals with an interest in horticulture, the floral industry, and sustainable agriculture are encouraged to apply.
Internship Details
Interns must commit to a minimum of 6-8 hours per week for at least 4 weeks, but the schedule is flexible to meet individual needs (paid work, school, etc.). The intern’s work schedule will include a mix of educational activities and general farm work, but can be tailored to fit the individual’s interests and goals. In addition, part of the internship can be remote, with a project focused on marketing/sales, social media, or a similar part of the farm business.
Application Process
To apply, send a brief (1-2 paragraph) statement describing your interests and background to michael@roughpatchfarm.com. Indicate a specific goal or area of interest. A resume is optional if you have one. Applications are considered on a rolling basis, but interns are encouraged to start the process ahead of their desired start date. This is an unpaid internship, and unfortunately we are not able to offer intern housing at this time. We do occasionally have need for temporary paid help with specific projects. Feel free to email with any questions.
