The Veterinary Medical Center at LWR is an 18,500 sq foot privately owned Emergency and Specialty hospital in Lakewood Ranch, FL. Our hospital also contains an attached 7 doctor General Practice. We are looking to add 1-2 emergency veterinarians to our Emergency and Specialty Team.
Our hospital is equipped with 11 exam rooms, two welcoming reception areas, two surgery suites, an ultrasound room, separate isolation facilities, and more. We have all the latest diagnostics and treatments in hospital (i.e. doppler and oscillometric BP, ICU oxygen units, in-house IDEXX blood and urine machines, Imagyst, PT/PTT, NOVA, iSTAT, in-house cortisol, full dentistry capabilities with a handheld dental X-ray, ultrasounds, cardiopet, full anesthesia monitoring SPO2/CO2/HR/RR/Temp, defibrillator, digital x-ray, hyperbaric oxygen chamber, companion animal laser, CT scan, mechanical ventilation, high flow oxygen therapy, endoscopy, and an in-house animal blood bank).
In November 2021, we opened The VMC Animal Blood Bank which is a fully functioning blood bank run by our Critical Care team. We want you to have all the tools you’ll need to practice excellent medicine!
Mentorship is available to new graduates who are interested in entering the field of emergency medicine. New graduates are encouraged to apply. Surgical skills are not required, but you can earn additional compensation if you love surgery! Two Criticalists are on staff to help with more complex cases as well as endoscopy/GI FB removal.
Schedule:
Our emergency clinicians work a rotating schedule consisting of 10-12 shifts per month. This can be a combination of shifts allowing for every other weekend off. A part-time schedule is also available.
