Hospice nurses provide end-of-life care to help ensure the comfort and quality of life for their patients. They primarily work in collaborative, team-driven environments that require frequent communication with their patients, families, and other caregivers. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, patient, and calm. Hospice nurses are caring and kind individuals who possess a special hospice heart who can help our patients celebrate the rest of their life’s journey.
Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY
- Serves as a professional leader in assessing, planning, guiding, and evaluating patient care.
- Interacts with management, physicians, and field staff utilizing a teamwork approach.
- Assists with training and evaluation of all team clinical personnel.
- Maintenance/development of the clinical record.
Qualifications
- Education/Regulatory Requirements:
- Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Florida.
- BSN preferred.
- Hospice certification preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification.
- Skills:
- One year of recent hospice, oncology, medical/surgical, or home health, public/health, geriatric care experience preferred.
- Expertise in support skills, palliative care, and educational techniques.
- Basic computer skills and EMR software experience a plus.
- Demonstrates organizational, administrative, and personnel management skills.
- Understanding of and ability to apply characteristics of Hospice Nursing: case management, crisis intervention, communication skills, teaching skills, thanatology skills, and needs.
- Professional Requirements:
- Communicates clearly and effectively in writing and orally.
- Able to work well under stress and deadlines.
- Language Skills:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
