Job Description
AECOM Hunt is seeking a Preconstruction Intern to be based in Dallas, TX.
This position is expected to begin in Summer 2025.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Performs a variety of assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities, requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out tasks.
- Assist with development of a project prior to on-site construction activities
- Cost Estimating – determine quantities utilizing a traditional 2D takeoff tool such as On-Screen Takeoff or 3D model quantities utilizing a program such as Assemble.
- Schedule Development – review project documentation to determine scope involved to assist in creating a preliminary project schedule.
- Logistics Planning – study characteristics of the project site to determine best approach to phasing, access, and laydown areas.
- Follows instructions to accomplish tasks assigned by senior staff.
- Meets required schedules while producing quality work.
- Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study.
- Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or similar discipline, and must have completed at least 1 year of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working for a large general contractor.
- Previous relevant internship experience.
- Exposure to other construction-based computer programs.
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
