Position & Department Overview
This position is responsible for the stewardship of donors and MOVES management (growing frequency and level of gifts as the donor desires) for current and new donors, managing stewardship/recognition, providing reports and analysis of gifts and metrics, and prep/development of presentations and materials. Work requires application of SOPs to various recurring tasks and/or activities with emphasis on precision and timeliness of execution. The main responsibilities for this person are gift processing, metrics/reporting, stewardship of donors, prospect management, scheduling donor/stakeholder visits and meetings, helping manage and support D/ER events, meetings, communications and programs.
Focus of Job Responsibilities
Develop and Manage Donor Stewardship Program - 35%
- Develop a stewardship program that is comprehensive/personalized/customized recognition leading to improved donor experience and higher retention.
- Manage stewardship of donors utilizing MOVES management training for a positive first impressions, connection with first and continued gifts, increased involvement, and personalized relationships with HI leaders.
- Develop prospects by identifying & qualifying prospects, working with department leaders for matches within HI (e.g. area of research, education, etc.).
- Oversee wealth screening for prospect development.
- Support cultivation plan for D/ER team portfolios.
- Engage a broader more inclusive segment from The Hormel Institute.
Special Projects - 15%
- Manage special projects in support of D/ER goals.
- Represent The Hormel Institute and collaborative opportunities to external groups.
Manage and Coordinate Gift Processing - 15%
- Manage gift processing under supervision following the University of Minnesota Foundation, The Hormel Institute, and Industry best practices.
- Track donor gift history.
Manage and Coordinate D/ER Communications - 30%
- Manage communications for D/ER through mailings, updates, reports, acknowledgments, luncheons, and meetings with HI leaders and researchers.
- Develop donor impact information/mailings.
- Grant applications.
Other Duties as Assigned - 5%

- Work Profile 1 is expected to work primarily on-site. Your office will be located at The Hormel Institute in Austin, Minnesota.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree or combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a field closely related to Development.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- The physical and/or environmental requirements of this position include being able to work at the HI office, sit or stand at the computer as needed, and drive to donor meetings/events.
