Position Overview
Eastern Connecticut State University is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor of Computer Science position to begin Fall 2025. Eastern is Connecticut’s Public Liberal Arts University and is located in Willimantic, Connecticut which is 1.5 hours from Boston and 2.5 hours from New York City. The position also offers substantial health and retirement benefits.
Commitment to Excellence
Applicants must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence, scholarship, student advisement, and university and community service. ECSU is especially interested in faculty with demonstrated excellence in teaching in a liberal arts curriculum and sensitivity to diverse populations and perspectives.
Department Focus
The department is particularly interested in applicants with expertise in machine intelligence, data science, and software engineering. However, applicants with expertise in any area of Computer Science will be considered.
Position Description
The applicant is expected to teach undergraduate computer science courses at all levels and will have opportunities to teach in an Applied Data Science Master’s program. The workload is equivalent to 12 credit hours per semester. Responsibilities also include curriculum development, research, advising, and service to the department.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field, completed before August 2025, and have a strong commitment to undergraduate education and scholarly research.
