MGH Nursing Coop - Cardiac Arrhythmia Stepdown - Ellison 10
The start date for this position is Monday, December 30, 2024 and the end date is Friday, June 27, 2025. This nursing cooperative with MGH is exclusive to Northeastern University Nursing School Program students.
Ellison 10 is a thirty-six bed adult in-patient unit. Patients on this unit are complex cardiac and medical patients. The population includes cardiac arrhythmia patients requiring medical management, heart failure patients awaiting transplant and requiring intensive monitoring, and coronary artery disease patients. This cardiac step-down unit (SDU) accommodates intermediate level of cardiac care.
Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment. PCA assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs. Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.
You are expected to be available to work during that entire time period.
- HS Diploma required.
- Current CPR certification.
- Current enrollment in Northeastern University Nursing School Program.
- Completion of the MGH PCA Skills checklist with at least one clinical rotation completed.
