The Medical Assistant II - Occupational Health performs a variety of patient care, technical, and administrative duties in the care of our Fred Hutch workforce. The Medical Assistant participates as a team member in the overall functioning of the Occupational Health program. The Medical Assistant is responsible for the flow of the patients (Fred Hutch employees, affiliates, students and volunteers) in the Occupational Health clinic each day, in partnership with admin and nursing. Additionally, the Occupational Health Medical Assistant will support programmatic functions such as process improvement and information management.
Responsibilities
- Manage employee clinic visits for procedures within MA scope (including but not limited to vaccine administration and venous blood draws)
- Partner with RN for triage, assessment needs and procedures out of MA scope.
- Support new employee immunity screening process.
- Manage clinic stock of medication and supplies.
- Participate in annual Employee Flu Vaccination campaign.
- Data entry support and other administrative duties as assigned.
- Perform blood draws as directed
- Collaborate with clinic nursing supervisor to develop operational strategies and process improvements for department/unit
- Act as an Occupational Health resource for the organizational workforce
- Assist in resolving or responding to workplace safety concerns and employee healthcare needs
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of a medical assistant program offered by a school accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP); or
- Military training or experience may also satisfy the training and experience requirements
- 2+ years relevant work experience
- Certified with Medical Assistant in the State of Washington and must be familiar with the State’s conduct and standards of practice
- Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two years

- Experience with electronic Medical records
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex healthcare environment
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem solve
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to follow direction and guidance
- Ability to recognize limitations and seek help
- Ability to identify learning needs and plan learning opportunities
- Ability to appropriately respond to emergencies or disasters per clinic protocol and scope of practice

The hourly pay range for this position is from $26.99 to $38.43 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
