Under the direction of a qualified physician, performs a variety of technical procedures that require minimum independent judgement and initiative in the utilization of Nuclear Medicine for the diagnosis of disease.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Operate Nuclear Medicine equipment to perform high quality exams and procedures.
- Follow established guidelines in accordance with NYS DOH (New York State Department of Health) and ACR (American College of Radiology) standards.
- Transport, transfer, and position patients properly for exams.
- Provide radiation protection in compliance with prescribed safety standards.
- Order, receive, and dispose of radioisotopes safely.
- Review and complete exams in PACS.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of basic computer skills and patient care technologies, information systems, and communication devices that support safe clinical practices.
- Obtain thorough health history and complete all documentation as required.
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly quality control on nuclear medicine equipment.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Satisfactory completion of an approved Nuclear Medicine Technology Program.
- NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board) and/or ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's Degree.
- 5 years full time or equivalent Nuclear Medicine experience.
