Position Purpose: An RN Navigator for the Oncology Medical Group works with the cancer care team to coordinate patient care. Help keep track of how the person with cancer is doing. Help manage symptoms and side effects. Help people understand their cancer, testing, treatment, and what they might expect during and after treatment.
What you will do:
- Provides consultative services to patients with new cancer diagnosis by providing support, education and service linkage.
- Works collaboratively with Physicians.
- Communicates the plan to primary care physicians and obtains consensus for participation in this service.
- Advocates for the use of Bienes Cancer Center services in the next phase treatment plan and provides linkage of those services.
- Provides emotional support and education to the patient during each phase of treatment up to and including follow up treatments and monitoring.
- Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of performance improvement indicators to promote positive outcomes and work environment.
- Displays excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
- Ability to be effective in a fast paced, continually evolving program. Demonstrates the ability to delegate and balance priorities while continuing to move issues forward.
- Keeps educational and promotional materials organized and reorders materials when necessary.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by Manager of Cancer Center.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required. BSN Preferred.
Experience & Skills:
- Minimum one to three years clinical nursing experience. Oncology experience preferred.
- ONS Chemo/Biotherapy course on hire or within 6-months of hire required.
Licensure/Certification:
- FL RN license
- BLS from AHA
