Job Summary
The duration of this temporary role is approximately 6 months.
This position is for candidates with cell culture, preclinical mouse research, molecular biology and immunology background for a role as lab technician coordinator position in a new translational cancer research laboratory at UCSF with a focus on next generation cancer immunotherapeutics. Our objective is to discover and conquer novel checkpoint immunotherapy resistance mechanisms associated with liver and other clinically challenging sites of metastases. The candidate will support the lab in using high-throughput RNAseq, spatial transcriptomics, and other cutting-edge techniques with a novel animal model to conduct mechanistic studies and test preclinical innovative immunotherapy strategies with stereotactic radiation and metastasis surgery. Specifically, the tasks will include support for the lab's cell culture, mouse research handling, molecular biology (RT-PCR, CRISPR, cloning, gel eletrophoresis, transfections, DNA/RNA extraction, chip arrays, cellular culture/screens, etc), computational data analysis (RNAseq data analysis, R, Python, etc.), and clinical tissue processing/analysis. 45% molecular gene expression data analysis, including computational bioinformatic data analysis. Tasks will include: 50% molecular biology experiments including PCR, cloning, transfections, transductions, 50% preclinical immunology mouse experiments, including mouse procedures, flow cytometry, immune assays.

Please note: An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role. For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range. UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.
