Summary
The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides clinical assessment, treatment, and diagnostic respiratory services for all neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients for whom care has been prescribed. Responsibilities include but are not limited to knowledge of pulmonary disease processes and the therapies associated with their treatments. Implementation of pharmacological therapy by established protocols, ventilator management, administration of all other related treatments and procedures provided by the respiratory care department according to departmental policies and procedures. Initiate and maintain all respiratory equipment, respond in a timely manner, make appropriate decisions in both clinical and professional situations and appropriately apply departmental and hospital guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED
- Graduate of Respiratory Therapy from an AMA approved school of Respiratory Care
- One year experience preferred, new graduates are acceptable
- ICU & NICU experience preferred
- CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- License Requirements: Maryland Board of Physicians Respiratory Care License
- Certification Requirements: BLS- Health Care Provider preferred, Certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following:
- Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel
- Microsoft Outlook
- Meditech (if applicable to position)
- Epic (if applicable to position)
- Performance Manager/NetLearning
- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
- Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
- Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
Other Requirements: Work effectively in a quickly changing environment.
