Job Summary
The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in assisted living. The NA provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a charge nurse. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with basic health care needs including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support.
- Assisting residents in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct techniques and equipment.
- Completing tasks related to food preparation and dining while creating a positive dining experience.
- Aiding providers and nursing staff with procedures and collecting non-invasive body fluid specimens.
- Documenting outcomes related to resident care, medication administration, behavior, activity, and dietary.
- Communicating changes in resident conditions to the charge nurse.
- Providing housekeeping and laundry services as needed.
- Encouraging residents to participate in wellness and recreational programs.
Qualifications
High school graduate or GED preferred but not required. Minimum age of 16. Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in assisted living preferred. Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing. Must complete yearly competency testing and maintain continuing education credits (minimum of 12 hours annually). Must be certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry if applicable. Depending on facility responsibilities, this role may require a motor vehicle report and valid driver’s license.
