About The Position
- Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor and Delivery
- Job Specialty: Post-Partum LDRP
- Job Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour night shift (7:00 pm to 7:30 am)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Experience: Minimum of one year of experience preferred, specific to the specialty
- License: State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
- Certifications:
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) Certification or Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Certification
- Must-Have: Post-partum LDRP experience
Job Responsibilities:
- Assume responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team and patients/families to meet physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
- Promote optimal health, well-being, and safety of patients using the nursing process in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines, and the State Nurse Practice Act.
- Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care and adherence to organizational mission and core values.
- Assess patient's physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interviews, medical record reviews, and clinical data evaluation.
- Evaluate patient responses and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
- Advocate and collaborate to protect patient health, safety, and rights.
- Provide patient and family education based on learning readiness, needs, and ability, and evaluate effectiveness of teaching.
- Recognize the patient or designee as a full partner, providing compassionate and coordinated care respectful of preferences, values, and needs.
- Deliver care with respect for cultural differences and diversity of human experience.
- Delegate to non-RN personnel in accordance with State Board of Nursing and hospital policy.
- Efficiently use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
- Serve as a professional role model demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing practices.
- Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with individualized patient and unit needs.
- Use standards of care, hospital policies/procedures, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice.
- Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making.
- Precept/mentor new staff or nursing students as needed.
- Seek out learning opportunities and continuing education.
- Maintain skills and competence through experiences reflecting current practice.
- Maintain professional records indicating competency and lifelong learning.
- Evaluate personal integrity and nursing practices in relation to professional standards, guidelines, relevant statutes, rules, and regulations.
- Take action to achieve goals identified during the evaluation process.
Schedule Notes:
- Requires post-partum LDRP experience
- Floating may be required to locations within sixty miles of the original assignment location or identified float zones
- Float assignments may include duties outside of original assignment job requirements in accordance with policy
