Job Summary: Assists the surgeon during operative and invasive procedures to provide optimal patient care in the operating room. Provides surgical exposure, hemostasis, assists with suturing, stapling, and other technical skills. Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities. Directs proper care, storage, acquisition and rotation of instruments, supplies, and equipment needed for patient care in the Department of Surgery, i.e. Surgery, PACU, Anesthesia, Special Procedures and Pain Clinic. Included within this assignment is the responsibility of ensuring effective communication between him or herself, other employees in the Department of Surgery and other hospital departments. In order to provide safe patient care and promote teamwork every employee must be flexible with their schedule which means they will occasionally be asked to work a day or shift other than what they are regularly scheduled.
Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Graduate of accredited Surgical Technologist program.
- CST certification, preferred.
- Previous experience as a surgical technologist is preferred.
- Current BLS certification upon hire or BLS certification must be obtained during orientation period or at next available scheduled class. Throughout employment, current BLS certification must be maintained by renewal during renewal period or at next available scheduled class.
