Our Women’s Team:
Worcestershire County Cricket Club is proud to have been awarded Tier 2 status for our Women’s Rapids team and is seeking a qualified Physiotherapist to join our Science and Medicine team.
In this role, you will be the primary lead for the Women’s Rapids, supported by two other experienced physiotherapists who are already employed by the Club. While your main focus will be on delivering care to the Women’s Rapids team, you will also work with our professional men’s team and academy. This role is designed for a 50/50 commitment, supporting both the Women’s and Men’s programs equally.
Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking a self-driven professional, eager to expand their expertise by leading physiotherapy services for our Women’s Rapids team and supporting the lead physiotherapist in delivering care for our Professional and Academy squads. This role requires adaptability and responsiveness to daily challenges, balancing work with amateur, professional, and academy athletes while upholding high professional standards across a busy competitive calendar.
During the winter, the focus will be on player development, with training held at Malvern College and New Road, and the role includes evening and weekend work. In-season, you will primarily provide game-day coverage while managing ongoing rehabilitation and team projects. We value curiosity and initiative, encouraging you to bring forward ideas to enhance service delivery and performance outcomes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide day to day physiotherapy support and pitch side trauma care for players at matches and training as required;
- Provide evidence-based physiotherapy support for acute injuries;
- Provide rehab planning and delivery for more complex issues, whilst working with the Science and Medicine team to support diagnosis and treatment;
- Undertake administrative tasks relating to injury management, including booking investigations and appointments, requesting insurance pre-authorisations, and completing medical insurance documents;
- Assist with musculoskeletal screening/profiling and work to manage performance risks;
- Complete concussion baseline testing;
- Work with the relevant Science and Medicine team members and coaching staff to individualise player preparation and develop integrated support programmes for individual’s player performance targets;
- Communicate injury assessment findings and concerns with the Lead Physiotherapist or where appropriate, the Chief Medical Officer at the end of the day/match;
- Undertake appropriate professional development to keep abreast of best practice and current evidence-based research;
- Keep notes of all contact with players and interventions to medico-legal national standards.

Requirements
Person Specification:
It is expected that the successful candidate will fulfil the below criteria:
- Experience of working in a team environment is preferred, however, previous experience of working in cricket is not essential;
- Current member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and registration with the Health Care Professions Council;
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary support team and an understanding of the various sports science and sports medicine disciplines;
- Sound clinical reasoning with the ability to justify tests and treatments;
- Good manual therapy skills;
- An ongoing record of CPD;
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills;
- Ability to write and deliver rehab plans with appropriate monitoring;
- Knowledge of injury surveillance and workload monitoring methods;
- Basic knowledge of S&C principles;
- Advanced DBS check and Safeguarding training will be a prerequisite for the successful candidate;
- Full Driving Licence is essential, including the means to travel to training and match venues;
- Computer literacy;
- Ability to work irregular and unsocial hours, including working outside normal office hours, at evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
- A recognition of the importance of promoting and supporting equality, safeguarding and anti-doping within sport;
- ECB accredited advanced life support training within the past two years (or willing to work towards);
- Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
This role may involve training, supervising, working with and/or being in sole charge of children and young people. The successful applicant will therefore be required to apply for an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service. Having a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position.

Hours, benefits and salary:
This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week worked over an average of 5 or 6 days. It will include some evening and weekend work, particularly during the Cricket season.
The salary for this role is £32,000 per annum.
