Duties
The CDC utilizes Direct/Expedited Hire Authorities to fill vacancies in a variety of occupations. This vacancy is a REPOSITORY of applications. Duties and responsibilities vary and may increase according to the grade level of the position. Applications may be periodically referred to hiring managers both during the open period and after the closing date. Because of the large number of applications anticipated, applicants' status will not be updated.
This public notice will be used to fill the positions listed below at multiple grade levels and locations.
- Nurse: Grades GS-05 through GS-15
Applicant Expiration: Applications will expire 4 months after submission/resubmission. To remain eligible for consideration, reapplying is required.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Assisting with collecting, compiling, correlating, and tabulating participant's information.
- Administering licensed and study vaccines to research study participants and assess for adverse events or disease symptoms.
- Entering information into a computer data base, summarizing and editing data utilizing available software such as word perfect, paradox, and Quattro pro.
- Reviewing a participant's hospital and clinic charts, computer records, microfilm; records information transferring appropriate information or data to a coding document.

- Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.

- This position may be subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement.

- Positions may be filled as permanent or term appointments.
- This position may be subject to the OGE Financial Disclosure requirements of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978.
- This position may require a Drug Test and be subject to Random Drug Testing.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Education Requirement: A graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required.
AND
- Licensure Requirement: Passed the National Council Licensure Examination and possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse.
Minimum Qualifications:
- GS-05:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing with no experience OR
- Diploma/associate degree in professional nursing & 1 year of professional nursing experience.
- GS-07:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing & eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement provision OR
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing & 1 year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level OR
- Diploma/associate degree in professional nursing & 2 years of professional nursing experience OR
- Completion of at least 1 year of graduate education in a professional nursing program.
- GS-09:
- Master's degree in professional nursing OR
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level.
- GS-11:
- PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing program OR
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level.
- GS-12:
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level.
- GS-13:
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level.
- GS-14:
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level.
- GS-15:
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Promotion potential: Promotion to the next grade level is at management's discretion.
Education
A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
Nurse Education/Degree Requirements:
- A graduate/higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required.
- Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required.
- Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: For Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) positions, applicants must possess a graduate/higher-level degree in nursing.
Additional information
Telework: This position has been designated as telework eligible.
May be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
