Responsibilities:
- Assist in Treatment Planning: Collaborate with physical therapists to develop individualized treatment plans for patients based on their specific needs and goals.
- Implement Treatment Modalities: Administer therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and other modalities as prescribed by the physical therapist to help patients improve strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination.
- Provide Hands-on Therapy: Perform massage, stretching, joint mobilization, and other hands-on techniques to alleviate pain, improve circulation, and enhance mobility.
- Monitor Patient Progress: Regularly assess and document patients' progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and communicate with the physical therapist about any changes or concerns.
- Educate Patients: Instruct patients and their families on proper techniques for exercises, mobility aids, and home care to support their rehabilitation and prevent future injuries.
- Assist with Equipment and Modalities: Set up and operate therapeutic equipment and modalities, such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and traction, under the guidance of the physical therapist.
- Maintain Documentation: Keep accurate records of patient treatments, progress notes, and other relevant information in accordance with legal and professional standards.
- Ensure Safety and Comfort: Provide a safe and comfortable environment for patients during therapy sessions, including proper positioning, use of assistive devices, and monitoring vital signs as needed.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Team: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and speech therapists, to coordinate patient care and achieve optimal outcomes.
- Adhere to Ethical Standards: Uphold ethical and legal guidelines in the practice of physical therapy, including patient confidentiality, informed consent, and respect for individual rights and dignity.
Must have 1 year professional SNF experience
Qualifications:
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of practice.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform therapeutic techniques and assist patients with mobility.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic principles related to physical therapy practice.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education.
