The Correctional Psychiatrist assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients within a correctional facility under the supervision of the Chief Psychiatrist. Responsibilities include psychiatric evaluations, medication management, crisis intervention, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. New licensed Psychiatrists are welcome.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments of inmates.
- Diagnose mental health disorders and develop treatment plans.
- Provide medication management and prescribe appropriate psychotropic medications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies and crises within the facility.
- Document patient encounters and maintain accurate medical records.
- Participate in treatment planning meetings and case conferences.
- Provide education and support to staff regarding mental health issues and treatment options.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and standards of care within the correctional facility.
Qualifications:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) and board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry.
- Valid state medical license and DEA registration.
- Strong clinical skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Experience in correctional or forensic psychiatry preferred.
Full-time or Part-time positions are available.
Full time: Flexible 8 or 10 hours daily, Mon-Fri.
Part time: 3 days per week, Any days, 10 hours, Mon-Fri.
Compliance with facility regulations and security protocols.
Training and professional development provided.
Pay is flexible 200-230+ depending on experience.
