How You Will Make an Impact
The Reading Truck EHS Medical Support Specialist will provide support to the EHS offices in Reading PA and the Medical Clinic located at the facility in Reading PA. This support will include duties as a Certified Medical Assistant and Administrative Assistant, and include tasks related to administrative and office management, facilitating better communication with Spanish speakers, organizational effectiveness and improve internal coordination in the EHS and Medical Departments. The position will support the Corporate Director and will be a resource to the Plant EHS Manager as well as the Occupational Health Nurse.
The Nuts and Bolts
- File Medical Records
- Assist with vital signs
- Assist with vision testing/Prescription eyeglass program
- Assist with Hearing Conservation testing
- Assist with the scheduling of doctor’s appointments
- Maintain the First Aid Room and supplies in an orderly fashion
- Record the height and weight of patients
- Basic patient intake tasks
- Assist company physician and nurse on clinic days
- Assist with respirator fit testing
- Prepare and create occupational health talking points and memos
- Assist to develop, implement, and communicate safety procedures, policies, and training as necessary
- Collaborate with employees to understand problems, issues, and obtain suggested alternatives
- File and retain occupational safety and environmental records to ensure legal compliance
- Manage the EHS department mailbox system
- Respond and send emails/alerts accordingly
- Order supplies as needed
- Review safety presentations in advance before being sent to Senior Leadership
- Assist with WC filing and records as needed
Required Credentials
- Certified Medical Assistant
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with information
- Strong computer skills working in Microsoft Windows applications – Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Excellent verbal, written, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively within all levels of the organization
- Bi-lingual Spanish Speaking necessary
- Excellent organizational skills
- The ability to collaborate with a multi-department team
- Good training and presentation skills
- Must display a courteous and professional attitude when dealing with co-workers and the public
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment
- Willing periodically to work overtime and off shift for medical department tasks such as hearing testing and respirator fit testing
- Three (3) to five (5) years previous medical office or clinic experience
- Medical office records management or office management
