Job Summary and Qualifications
The Anesthesia Technician plays a crucial role in delivering top-notch, patient-centered care by providing essential anesthesia support to the anesthesia clinician during surgical procedures. Their proactive approach to preparing and maintaining supplies, patient monitoring equipment, and anesthesia delivery systems helps anticipate the clinician's needs.
Prepares and organizes equipment and supplies for scheduled and emergent cases in anesthetizing locations. Reviews present and future surgical schedules to ensure anesthesia staff have the essential equipment and supplies necessary for routine and challenging cases.
Transports and sets up equipment needed for procedures, including laryngoscope blades, monitors, and oxygen tanks/tubing. Assures equipment is decontaminated and in good working condition before each procedure.
Follows department procedures for proper procurement and handling of non-controlled medications, I.V. fluids, contrast media, and irrigating fluids in the surgical services area.
Performs thorough room turnover between procedures, including cleaning, restocking of anesthesia supplies, and storing of anesthesia equipment as needed.
Calibrates and troubleshoots minor malfunctions of anesthesia equipment. Removes and reports all damaged or unsafe equipment.
Responds promptly to on-call situations as scheduled.
What qualifications you will need:
· High school diploma or GED
· Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
· Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience as an Anesthesia Technician required
· Certification by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians preferred
· Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills required
· Able to work in a fast-paced environment
· Able to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, and lifting of 25 lbs.
