Speech-Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow
WRSD is seeking a speech-language pathologist / speech-language pathology assistant / speech-language pathologist clinical fellow to provide optimum service delivery of speech and language therapy as a team member in a comprehensive educational program for students who are deaf and hard of hearing. Subscribes to and supports the school’s mission.
Primary Duties
- Develop a program which provides for optimum delivery of services on an individual, small-group, classroom and school-wide basis.
- Diagnose and assess student speech and language needs.
- Formulate short and long term intervention goals to meet these needs, changing or modifying the goals and activities as needed.
- Participate in the writing of each student’s educational plan and attend team meetings.
- Participate in program evaluation with staff and administration.
- Work as an effective member of the team with the classroom teacher and audiologist to share ideas and suggestions for implementing the educational programs for the student.
- Participate in the parent component as established for each assigned program and work with parents in any way necessary to support communication.
- Support continued implementation of a coordinated language arts curriculum by establishing communication with classroom teachers.
Requirements
- (Speech-Language Pathologist only) Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA), licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and certification as a Speech and Language Pathologist by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Intermediate rating on the SLPI or other comparable sign language proficiency exam within two years of hire.
- Knowledge of cochlear implants, hearing aids, and hearing assistive technology.
- Knowledge of other communication modalities.
