Job Summary:
Manages the operation of the pharmacy outpatient department, including responsibility for human resources, cost and financial accountabilities of the department. Coordinates the development, quality assurance, process improvement and oversight of the outpatient and ambulatory medication management in clinics. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Graduate of school of pharmacy: Required
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
- Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD): Preferred
- Five years' pharmacy experience: Preferred
- One year's leadership experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Pharmacist license in the state of practice: Required
- Registered Pharmacist (RPH): Required
Facility Specific License/Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required
Essential Functions:
- Manages the operation of the department. Ensures the outpatient medication management program is in regulatory compliance which includes inspections, efficiency and utilization reviews as necessary. Participates in the oversight of all aspects of the day-to-day management of the Pharmacy and the staff. Purchases and restocks as necessary to maintain adequate inventory.
- Ensures that the 340B Program is managed for compliance and business optimization. Maintains current registration or recertification. Provides routine 340B compliance and financial update to Administration.
- Maintains all regulatory compliance including Federal and State laws for Pharmacy Operations. Conforms to all safety rules, and uses all appropriate safety equipment.
- Identifies opportunities within the Outpatient Pharmacy for efficiencies, process improvements and cost savings in order to better serve patients, physicians and the outer community.
- Works as a Staff Pharmacist, daily preparing and dispensing medicines and preparations, cart fill check and/or fill.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
