The Division of Global Health Equity at Brigham and Women's Hospital is seeking a Research Assistant (RA) to assist with development of a book manuscript in a part-time role (5 hours per week). This position is based in Boston though it can be fully remote. The role starts in October 2024, but there could be flexibility depending on the time for the hiring process. The time commitment is until February 2025.
The RA will need to function well in both independent and team settings. Excellent writing skills are a must.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and respond to manuscript drafts in a timely manner
- Research assistant: be responsible for developing footnotes
- Literature Review: extend and strengthen manuscript arguments by providing insight from the fields of medical anthropology, psychiatric epidemiology, and global mental health
- Data Analysis: Analyze quantitative and qualitative data
- Present research, insights, and feedback at weekly meetings
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree is required. Background of at least 1+ year of research, particularly in anthropology, critical theory, and global mental health.

- Ability to anticipate points of critique, controversy, and counterarguments around sensitive topics
- Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and in Google applications including Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Calendar, Meet, and Slides
- Experience with autobiography, fact checking, and academic and journalistic writing
- Experience with queer, decolonial, and/or critical theory studies
- Experience with research, public health, global health, health policy, economics, and/or medicine
