What You'll Do
The Robotics Department is looking for a team-oriented professional to provide support for our hands-on laboratory courses. You will build and maintain robots, hardware, and tools that are used in the labs. You will help us delvelop hardware for new undergraduate level lab courses. This position will report to the Robotics Full Stack Engineer.
Responsibilities*
- Build, support, and maintain the fleet of instructional lab robots including all makes and models of the Robotics Department MBots and other robots
- Support all aspects of instructional lab operations, including space management, scheduling, lab set-up, and breakdown
- Work with Robotics Department Engineers and instructional staff to develop a master schedule that incorporates the assembly, test, distribution and collections needs of robotics systems
- Develop and maintain lab infrastructure, incliuding Linux systems
- Maintain documentation of software packages (Python scripts, and embedded firmware) related to courses
- Maintain lab kits, robotic subsystems, and test/fabrication equipment
- Assist with laser cutting, 3D printing, soldering, and assembly test and debugging of circuit boards
- Engage with both undergraduate and graduate students in robotics courses, as well as pre-college students involved in outreach programs
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or other revelent disipline
- 1 year or more of Mechanical skills (ex. manual/computer-numerical-control mills, computer aided design tools, 3D printers, laser cutters) necessary to fabricate parts and assembles
- Experience soldering circuit boards and basic hardware debugging
- Proven experience in diverse enviroments (ex. Python, C, C++, JaaScript)
- experience with instrucmentation including sensor calibrations, amplifier set up, data collection, and system level diagnostics
