FT 6:30 am-5:00 pm with call rotation.
The Surgical Technologist-First Assistant (ST-FA) functions under the direct supervision of the attending surgeon when functioning in the first assistant role and under a Registered Nurse (RN) when functioning as an Operating Technician (ORT). The ST-FA performs assistive and delegated functions depending on their role at the time. In the ST-FA role, they may help position the patient, provide visualization during the surgical procedure, assist in hemostasis, assist with wound closure and perform skin closure, inject post-operative local anesthetic agent as directed by the surgeon, secure wound drains, apply wound dressing, and participate in the transfer and transport of the patient to the post-operative destination.
Qualifications:
Completion of accredited Surgical Tech First Assist Program, BLS, and certification. Experience preferred.
